The Indiana Parkinson Foundation serves so many families and sometimes the stories are very sensitive. Today’s story comes from an amazing woman who would like to remain anonymous for this reason. They would benefit greatly from the programs offered through IPF. The Caregiver Support Group could help them learn to accept the changes and assist in his slow progress. The CLIMB would provide him with a network of similar people fighting alongside for recovery and prevention.

Hope in a Hopeless Situation

Today’s story is that of many families that are tossed into the Parkinson’s Disease diagnosis. Three years ago, my mother in law was traveling the world with my husband and our daughter enjoying life and making memories with very minor symptoms. My husband’s family has five sisters and a brother, and they were very quickly forced into making quick difficult decisions for their mother who was once very strong, living on her own and independent. These decisions had to be made about her health, safety and well-being during the pandemic.

Gracie and I are grateful for the many organizations that provide resources to people with Parkinson’s and their caregivers. But the one we have chosen to personally support in every way we are able is the Indiana Parkinson’s Foundation. More than any other organization, they are the ones who have really made a difference in our lives.
